If you are looking for inspiration and wedding cake ideas in the South East please have a browse through the Wedding Cake pages. There is a real art form in creating a stunning bespoke, luxury wedding cake or beautiful miniature individually decorated cakes adorned with sugar ribbons and bows, all of which should be the centrepiece of any truly memorable occasion. I now have over twenty years’ experience in cake creation and decorating and am a member of The British Sugarcraft Guild. I hold the highest grade (5) in Food Hygiene Standards. I have trained with internationally renowned tutors, including Eddie Spence MBE who has created cakes for the Royal family and Faye Cahill from Australia, amongst others.
Whether it is a wedding cake requiring precise colour and themed co-ordination, simplistic and stylish, floral and formal, with my creativity and artistic eye I can help you “bring to edible life” the ideas you may already have. All edible floral decorations are carefully hand crafted. Celebration cakes should not only look fabulous, they should taste fabulous too! I use the best ingredients available. Your cake, whatever flavour and filling you choose will be fresh and moist, which I consider as important as the appearance. Special dietary requirements can be catered for.
Sylvia’s Kitchen is based at my home in Hellingly, East Sussex where I have a dedicated kitchen. My love for cake decorating has been borne from a keen childhood interest in the art of sugarcraft and specialist making and baking, thanks to my Mum Sylvia. Whilst she was creating fabulous wedding cakes in her farmhouse kitchen, I would be practising my piping across the kitchen table, or getting guidance from Mum on perfecting my sugar roses. After taking a course in sugarcraft to enhance the skills my Mum had taught me I went on to produce my own, my sisters and my friends wedding cakes. I now have my own family with my husband – we have three grown up children. I have spent the past five years launching and growing Sylvia’s Kitchen – no other name would do, after all, that’s where it all started! I am proud to now run a professional business, where others are able to share in the pleasure of having a unique and bespoke cake, tailored to their personal requirements. Sadly I no longer have my Mum Sylvia here, but she continues to be my focus and inspiration, whatever I’m working on.
